View across field to Cleeve Abbey near Washford. The abbey survived Henry VII’s Dissolution of the Monasteries as the main building became a country house. However, over the following centuries it fell into disrepair. Now-a-days the monastery is in the charge of English Heritage and visitors can see some of the best-preserved monks’ living quarters anywhere in the UK
