The Old House - Nether Stowey - Bridgwater
We can off three unique self-catering character properties dating back to the late 18th century. They are situated in the heart of this pretty village and enjoy a wonderful walled garden which guests are most welcome to use.
The Old House cottages are all unique in character and are very much enjoyed by guests from all over the world. We are situated the village of Nether Stowey which nestles at the foot of the Quantock Hills, renowned as the first designated area of outstanding natural beauty in Britain. Today visitors travel here to enjoy the wonderful walking, biking and the stunning Jurassic coastline. We are also close to many wonderful places to visit as well as the beach.
At The Old House we offer self-catering accommodation as well and two delightful bed & breakfast rooms in the main house. Our strong historical connections with the romantic poet Samuel Coleridge draws many visitors as he both lived in the village and stayed at The Old House with his family. Our B&B Coleridge suite was once the Library which attracted him and his literary friends.
The cottages are all different. The Garden Wing is suitable for wheel chair users and offers a wonderful inglenook in the characterful sitting room. It has one double bedroom and hopefully all the equipment you will be looking for. It also overlooks the garden. Small dogs are welcome.
The rose covered Stable Cottage sits across the courtyard. This is the converted coach house and is also full of character and charm. It is very much suited to families with children as it has one double and and a twin bedded room. Small dogs are also welcome to take their holidays here.
On the top floor of the main house lies The House Keeper’s Quarters. This accommodation can sleep up to five and is really large and highly characterful. It has a barrel roofed sitting room, a twin and double bedroom with plenty of space for an extra bed or cot. From here you can view the surrounding area across the roof tops of the village and our garden.
As relatively new owners the properties have all been refurbished and we hope we offer all the equipment you will need to include TV’s, DVD’s & Free View. Laundry facilities are available and high chairs, cots and stair gates. Towels and linen are provided but we do make a charge for electricity as per meter reading.
Nether Stowey is a thriving village and you will find all you need in the local shop a few steps away as well as three pubs which serve food and a small bistro. There are also many great eating venues locally which we can recommend.
We also offer two lovely B&B rooms in the main house which have their own entrance and private facilities. If you take a look at Trip Advisor you will see what our guests have to say which we hope you enjoy reading.
