Paul and Sarah Vowles welcome you to their Somerset home, a guest house near Bristol airport set on the North side of The Mendip Hills (an area of outstanding natural beauty)

Dating back to pre c1800 and formerly the village general store, The Mendip Gate retains lots of character and charm.

All individually designed and carefully decorated bedrooms comprise tea and coffee making facilities, H&C, colour T.V., towels, double glazing, C/H, alarm clock, shaver point and hairdryer, incorporating the charm of the past with today's modern comforts.
Standard, en-suite and luxury double, twin or triple rooms available (quad at asqueeze). Private guest lounge.

Carefully prepared breakfasts served at separate tables are tailored to suit using homemade preserves and bread and fresh local Somerset produce wherever possible. Prior to 07.30 a self-serve continental can be made available for early travellers to Bristol International Airport, from a choice of cereal, fruit, juice, muffins, croissants, hot cross buns, toast and homemade preserves. Special dietry requirements catered for. Please advise when booking.

Within easy reach of the Georgian City of Bath, Bristol City, Bristol Airport and Bristol Grounds School at Cheddar, Cheddar Gorge and Cheese Factory, Ancient City of Wells, Coastal resort of Weston-Super-Mare, Clarks Village, Langford Veterinary Hospital, Blagdon and Chew Valley Lakes and numerous leisure activities including caving, climbing, abseiling, pony trekking, dry slope skiing, trout fishing and golf,

Rooms are available from 4 pm daily. We welcome all our guests personally so please make contact 1-2 days before your arrival to confirm your ETA.
Please vacate premises by 11 am.

It is usually possible to arrive midday on Saturdays to change for Weddings.

We operate a strict no-smoking policy throughout our home and grounds.
Whilst we welcome well controlled children over 2 yrs, sorry, we cannot accommodate pets. Children remain the sole responsibility of parents at all times.

FROM THE SOUTH-WEST Take M5 North. Leave M5 at J22 and take A38 North (signposted Bristol and Bristol airport). Approx. 12 miles enter village of Churchill, go straight through traffic lights and we are 350 yds on right hand side. If you pass The Stag and Hounds PH you've just passed us. FROM THE NORTH OR WALES Take M5 South. Leave M5 at J20 take the B3133 (signposted Yatton). Travel through Yatton and at traffic lights, turn right onto the A370, then left at second set back onto the B3133 (dogleg). Follow B3133 for approx. 3 miles through twisting road and at mini roundabout take right turning. At junction with A38, turn right (signposted Bridgwater). We are 450 yds on left just after The Churchill Inn. From the station the Bristol airport Flyer bus runs a non-stop service to and from bristol airport, the journey takes about 25 minutes. The nearest local station is Yatton, approx. 5 miles. There is a bus stop outside The Mendip Gate (the stop before Churchill Gate), linking Bristol Bus station. The First Badgerline bus number 121 runs between Bristol, Weston Super Mare and Bristol airport, the bus station is just outside the short stay car park. Between 0530 and 2230 the Bristol airport Flyer bus runs every half an hour between Bristol Temple Meads, Bristol Bus station, Bedminster, Bridgwater Road and Bristol airport.
